Laundry Room Progress Reveal | Our House in the Pines

No, I do not look like this when I am doing laundry, I am usually rocking a mom bun and Craig’s t shirt. It sure is fun to dress up to photograph one of your favourite spaces though!

I can’t believe we are sharing are first reveal within our new house! This house has been and still is, such a labour of love. Like all of our projects in the past of course, but this is our first personal build and during a trying year to say the least. We are grateful to be here, grateful to have this opportunity to share our home with you as we complete it and so thankful to have you guys here along on this build!

A green laundry room, yep I finally did it. ZERO regrets.

To start things of, I knew before Craig and I even drew up our house plans that we would have a green laundry room and I am so glad we did it. As I said, zero regrets. Green is my favourite colour, give me all the hunter green cabinets and forest green throw pillows! Green is not Craig’s favourite colour but he loves how this room turned out, sometimes it is hard to see a vision until it comes to life.

The Homestead wallpaper from our collection made for the perfect pair in this space with its neutral tones and farmhouse, nostalgic print. I opted out of having a big shelf in the space so that we could showcase more of the wallpaper and and I am super happy with that decision. We wanted this space to have that high end farmhouse feel, and I totally get that vibe when I am in there doing laundry.

When Nick of Bespoke Fine Cabinetry and I were drawing out the cabinets for this room, we wanted there to be a ton of storage and it does. I love how his cabinets turned out in the green we picked and how it pops against the farmhouse sink and the countertops. We kept the accents simple and classic, a white farmhouse sink, brass elements and a beautiful, clean quartz named Calacatta Gold by Hanstone. I love how this stone looks in this space, it gives that marble look with no stress & hassle of actual marble. We hired Latitude Countertops again for our stone install after having such a great experience with them in our last home and they did a great job again. I doodled out the vision I had for the stone backsplash and they brought it to life, we are so happy with how it looks with the wall mount faucet especially! All of the hardware in this space is by Emtek, we used their cabinet hardware and door hardware for this entire home. They have such amazing quality hardware in such a variety of finishes.

Picking the tile flooring was not easy, I went through about 20 different flooring samples and tortured Craig with the back and forth picking them up from our suppliers. Once we find this one, we knew right away – I was in LOVE with it and it ties the entire look together. Don’t worry friends, tile details come next week in a full blog post dedicated to our flooring selections!

The laundry cart was another fun item I found online, we left the one cabinet on the bottom so 1-2 carts could fit under there. These carts are on wheels and super handy, I put a link for it below!

What do you guys think of the laundry room so far? I still have some styling to do in here, ideas come up as I use the space daily and move things around. We may add some art later on but for now I am just soaking up having a green laundry room with a nice big white farmhouse sink.

If I can give any advice on designing your home, trust your gut. So many choices I have made over the years were ones that people in the design industry didn’t agree with when I told them, I did it any way and haven’t regretted any of those design choices. I wanted a bold green laundry room and it is one of my favourite spaces in our home.

This isn’t to say that others don’t know what they are talking about, but more than one look can be the right look in my opinion.

Thanks for checking out our progress reveal of the laundry room, we hope this space inspires you!
