Master Bedroom: Update

Our beautiful beaded chandelier from Ro Sham Beaux, I won’t lie…I love waking up to him every morning haha! Ro Sham Beaux has redefined the market in exceptional design through modern, traditional and bespoke lighting collections. Principal Designer Ann Yancy studied sculpture, metal-smithing, and jewelry-making at the Portland School of Art. After introducing her first lighting line in New York, she settled in Charleston, South Carolina to launch Ro Sham Beaux in 2010. Husband Will Rogers soon joined the company with a curated line of furniture to round out the lighting collection. The couple operate the company out of Charleston where they live with their two daughters, woohoo another mom boss! Ann says the she is inspired by the natural elements of the earth and sea. She tends to move toward elements that do not harm the environment, including hemp, steel and natural stones. What do you guys think of our new light?

The prints above each of our nightstands are by Anna with Love from her Paris collection, they were the perfect addition of art into our master bedroom! Anna launched the Paris collection after an inspirational trip to Paris, a place of the world that changed her life and that she loves dearly for many of reasons – one specifically being that it inspired her to begin her blog annawithlove.com a way to create a life and career out of something she loved doing – photography.

Adjusting our custom linen roman shades by Q Design Centre, they let in the perfect amount of natural light into the room! The Q. Design mother/daughters team has a handmade history and are still running the business today with a team of 5 more people…more about this lovely Canadian business on the blog later this month.

Never take yourself too seriously! xo

Some of my favourites inside of my new Poppy & Peonies makeup bag, love that it has a special strap for holding jewellery! This owner of this company is actually a Canadian mama!!

You guys know me and my storage solutions, this tufted ottoman from Joss & Main was perfect for storing all of my hair tools. I can sit here, do my makeup and hair and have everything tucked away where I need it to avoid any clutter!

So excited to FINALLY be sharing a master bedroom update with you guys and so honoured to be wearing one of Paper Crown’s Spring 2017 dresses by Lauren Conrad for the reveal!!! As if we are moving soon, we are neck deep in renovations at the new house and will be staying with family until it is ready for us to move in. For now we are packing every thing up. exciting but also sad at times thinking of the memories in this house over the last 2 years – bringing Noah home to meet his big sister, watery eyes over here!! Our bedroom has changed since our original reveal, we have a brand new GORGEOUS light fixture by Ro Sham Beaux. This beaded beauty is what every one talks about when they visit and see our bedroom, it’s such a statement piece and blends so perfectly in this room with all of the sharp white trim and moulding work and contrasts nicely off of the tongue & groove ceiling too that we did with Metrie products. You bet your bottom this light fixture is coming with us to the new house, there was absolutely no way I was leaving it behind. We still haven’t decided where it is going in the new house but I am envisioning it over our dining room table! What do you think? There is SO much time and love that goes into making these lights, ours is custom – we love that we had that option! I am currently trying to customize another one for my new office – the struggle is real, they are all so beautiful!! Have a peruse of the Ro Sham Beaux website HERE, I promise you will be in lighting heaven. I am especially in love with this Malibu one, can you guys tell I am a navy fan?

We also FINALLY found winder coverings for the bedroom, lovely white linen ones that match the white of our bedroom perfectly. This was super hard to find but luckily we were able to work with Q Design Centre to have custom linen roman shades made. We had already ordered window coverings from Q Design for our living room when we had picked bamboo shades but found that they didn’t let enough light in for my photography liking, so – we decided to go with linen roman shades. We wanted drapes originally but found that the kids never failed to turn them into hiding spots which made us so paranoid that they’d either get hurt or pull them down.  So as I said we picked linen roman shades for our living room and my office and loved them so much when they arrived in the mail and we installed them (super easy PS) that we decided to get them for the bedroom too. The quality is exceptional and they do wonders for keeping the cold out and the heat in, I never really realized how important the right window coverings were for that very reason – I was always just thinking aesthetically!?! Living here in Canada, our winters are COLD which means the heat is pumped up and the bills sky rocket, these window coverings have made a big impact on our monthly savings – no lie. We have already decided on using Q Design Centre for the new house, hands down. This company does every thing from upholstered cushions, to drapery and custom roman shades – they also have gorgeous hardware too for your drapery…a wonderful one-stop-shop! Visit their website here for some inspiration, if you are on the hunt for the window coverings look no further, I strongly suggest that if you are going for roman shades like we did or drapery to order samples first so pick out the perfect colour.

The Q. Design mother/daughters team has a handmade history.  Marilyn has been an avid and talented sewer since she started designing and sewing her own clothing in high school!  After creating all the dance costumes for Lindsay’s dance recital in 1985 she was approached by a dance mum who was an interior designer to make draperies.  Marilyn is a self taught perfectionist when it comes to getting custom drapery right for designers, decorators and homeowners both near and far.  Lindsay joined Marilyn in the family business in 2002 right after graduating from McMaster University.  While Lindsay is a proficient seamstress her passion lies in growing the business, perfecting it’s systems and ensuring her team is happy and thriving!  More recently Marilyn’s other daughters Adrienne and Shelley have come on board to learn the business and grow it to the next level!  We also have 5 other talented craftpeople on our team who have all been with us several years and have honed their skills to assist in our quest for drapery perfection!

The other change in this room are the nightstands, we sold our round white ones and decided to do a DIY this time around! We picked up 2 basic wood nightstands from IKEA for $49!!!! I painted them my usual Benjamin Moore White – Chantilly Lace and Craig put these brass metal corners on each drawer so we could imitate the campaign look (at a fraction of the price). I hunted Anthropologie for months looking for the perfect hardware and ended up finding these gorgeous Druzy Geode Knobs on ETSY!!! The lovely woman Christina who runs this shop was so sweet and helpful by communicating back and forth with me a bunch to make sure these were the best choice for our nightstands. What do you guys think of the final product? I’m in LOVE!! You can find these knobs HERE! PS You can find my bed by cliking HERE.

I hope you enjoyed this master bedroom update, we can’t wait to share the next two room reveals with you over the next two weeks. A big, BIG thank you a friend of mine and fellow blogger Anna from Anna with Love for capturing this room for us with her exceptional photography skills! xo
