Heart of Yorkville: The Hazelton Hotel Staycation

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Hazelton hotel for a girls night getaway planned with my friend Julie Miguel of the Daily Tiramisu! We were lucky enough to snag tickets early to the John Mayer concert since I am an American Express card holder and we decided to make it a day and night of spoiling. As soon as we hit the city we checked into our hotel, shopped and got pedicures and enjoyed some wine and an AMAZING dinner at ONE Restaurant, at the Hazelton hotel. ONE Restaurant is chef and restaurateur Mark McEwan’s North American contemporary Yorkville hotspot and boy was it impressive, I felt like we were there for a culinary getaway! We enjoyed east coast oysters, steak & frites (finally found a friend who enjoys steak as much as I do lol) and delish lobster spoons smothered in, butter!!!!! My mouth is watering while I write this guys LOL. Check out their menu {here}!

When we decided to stay in the city overnight after our John Mayer concert I knew I wanted to make sure of my Platinum Card perks and so I went through the Fine Hotels list to see if there was a spot in Toronto that I hadn’t experienced yet and I saw the Hazelton Hotel, a beautiful boutique of a gem in the heart of Yorkville with adorable Juliette balconies…how had I never stayed there before!?! Yorkville is home to some of my favourite shops all in one area, I mean you guys know I could spend hours in Anthropologie! I couldn’t wait to experience this lovely hotel and I am SO glad I did. I truly fell in love with this hotel and I can’t wait to go back with Craig, I know he will love the food and atmosphere as much as I did…romantic getaway here we come!

A hotel simply isn’t it’s decor (even though I am a sucker for an all marble bathroom), it is also the kindness and customer service of it’s staff, the ambience…the FOOD is what gets me, I have stayed at VERY VERY high end resorts and they have truly disappointed me in the culinary department, the Hazelton was phenomenal! Every bite was heavenly and cooked so perfectly too, they truly took the time to make us a dinner to remember…well let us not forget the dessert. Boston. Cream. DONUTS! Are you kidding me!?! These were off the charts ridiculously amazing, and to think we almost didn’t stay for dessert too. I think I stayed awake that night dreaming about those donuts lol okay and maybe the swoon worthy John Mayer too (shhhh), his guitar work just throws me overboard lol!

Breakfast was also heavenly, you guys know I have a weak spot for freshly baked croissants and a good latte. Well, they sucked me in and I could have planted myself on their gorgeous patio ALL day! They seriously have one of the best patios in my opinion and such a great atmosphere! After polishing off our croissants we of course went for the eggs benedict next and french toast – it’s so fun travelling with friends that enjoy sharing foods so you can try a little bit of every thing, we split every thing in half and it was so much more fun! Both of us are busy moms and you never really know when your next adult getaway will be so we soaked in the quiet time, sharing a mimosa without any errands to run. It’s so important to get away with a girlfriend or girlfriends once in awhile to catch up and relax – I totally recommend a fun spa & stay at the Hazelton hotel and make sure to try their delicious menu at the ONE Restaurant too – you will not be disappointed!
