Spring Cleaning Giveaways: Dyson

Photography by Tamara Lockwood

It’s about that time of year again, March 20th is getting closer & closer which means a heck of a lot of Spring cleaning is about to get done around here. We are actually moving out of this house THAT DAY so lucky for the new owner of this house, they are getting all of the benefits of my vacuuming and scrubbing this year. We are so delighted to be hosting some Spring Cleaning Giveaways for you this year, this time around we are giving away some of our favourite household items from now until March 20th…for our first giveaway, someone is gonna get their hands on a brand new cordless Dyson vacuum!!! This guy is a staple in our house, it is used 2-3x a day and lasts forever (yes, even on max for us). With a ridiculous amount of natural rugs and two toddlers in this house snacking all day long and leaving trails of crumbs, vacuuming is a constant so we needed something reliable. We also wanted a vacuum we could tuck away but that wouldn’t take away from the storage space we needed in this current house (with little square footage). This cordless Dyson mounts onto the wall into its own charging dock (lifesaver), it’s not a massive vacuum but it sure works like one! My husband actually loves using it, need I say more lol?

We want you to have one too, so let’s get to the important stuff…you can either enter here on the blog or on my Instagram {here}…

In order to enter here on the blog you must share this blog post on your Facebook (see facebook icon below for sharing), but keep in mind that in order to qualify you must comment below letting us know that you shared it so that we can follow up :).

Vacuuming Tips:

A lot of people ask how we clean our seagrass rugs without damaging them, I always let people know that yes you can vacuum them but you MUST be gentle!! I never, ever vacuum my natural rugs on the MAX feature of a Dyson vacuum – unless I am going for the destroyer look…and I’m not. You do not want to be rough with majority of the rugs I own since they are braided, one rough go over and you are ripping the loops right out (RIP expensive rugs). So, you need to do your reading and pay attention to what areas of the house need what setting. For our hardwood flooring, tile and installed carpeting around the house (especially the stairs) we use the MAX setting. For my natural rugs, I use the regular setting and a flat opening attachment (not the carpet one!!!).

For scents, for years I have been using baking soda prior to vacuuming. It is it a great natural deoderizer, we sprinkle some all over the carpets and rugs lightly about ten minutes before vacuuming.

Essential oils can work so nicely for adding a nice clean scent to your cleaning without intoxicating your family with nasty chemicals, we make our own Eucalyptus & Lemon blend and spritz away after a fresh vacuum or right before guests visit vs burning a candle.

Do not vacuum before guests come over (especially if you are a pet or natural rug owner lol). The day before a visit is always best if you have guests with slight allergies, give the air a chance to settle.

Winner announced here on March 13th, contest entries are closed at 12pm March 12th…good luck every one & happy spring cleaning!!! xo
