Happy Heart Kid

{Starting our first activity}
{ It was so much fun teaching her with a system I could follow! }

When Happy Heart Kid reached out to me to feature one of their activity kits I knew it would make for a fun feature where Ella and I could really enjoy some time together learning, I am always keen to learn new ways to teach my kids as much as I can as a stay at home mom and these kits were right up our alley. Far too often we snuggle up on the couch watching movies, this will always be something we enjoy but I really wanted to unplug and teach ella about values through play. She loves crafts and after reading about the different kids they have available we chose the GRIT activity kit (find it here). First I have to say that i LOVE that these kits come with all of the supplies you need for each activity, I simply opened the box and we decided what we wanted to do…no running out to the store to get clue, or crayons etc (so helpful) and the quality of the materials were great too! I also loved that there was a parent guide sheet to help me figure out which activity within the box was best suited for Ella, my 3 year old. We started by placing adorable stickers on wood circles for an activity where you discuss challenges and you and your child use these labelled rounds to discuss solutions together.  At first I was worried that the activity was a little mature for Ella but you’d be surprised at just how sharp they are! I believe it’s all about how you communicate with them and this really helped us do a whole bunch of that which Ella loves, we talked about a ton of different scenarios and gosh her little discussions with me – you know when toddlers use their hands to talk with you so animated, yes with their head crooked sideways looking at you like you should already know what they are trying to say! LOVE it! It was adorable, and she loved me jotting down our observations in the Grit journal about what we were learning. Noah isn’t old enough for these activities yet but it’s nice to be learning these tools for teaching nurturing values now with Ella that I can also teach to Noah. They actually have games too and we just ordered the Feelings & Faces game, I think this will be a fun game Craig and I can play with both of the kids. I know all of you crafty moms & dads will appreciate this product and I’d love to hear what your favourite kit is if you’ve already tried one! These are great tools to teach your kids social emotional learning, I mean this is exactly what Archana- the founder of Happy Heart Kid is trying to help us do! I could put a summary together in my own words but I really enjoy their about page, check it out here! Our next kit will be the empathy one, I am actually so curious to see how Ella will enjoy this kit with me and our quality time together learning. Happy Heart Kid has actually shared an exclusive $10 off coupon to any one interested in getting a kit of their own with the code ‘BONJOURB’.
